You will also want to make sure you choose a non-slip bath mat that accounts for a drain hole depending where you will be placing it.

Level of Traction
Another term for traction is also the level of coefficient which is the main purpose of the mat- to provide friction to prevent again a slip and fall. Non-slip bath mats can provide different levels of traction and varying grit levels, so make sure you choose the best option for your application. In most cases, look for a fine grade PVC vinyl bath mat because that is most comfortable on bare feet while still providing adequate traction.

Compliance Considerations
Just like not all bath mats have the same level of traction, they do not all carry the same compliance certifications or considerations. Depending who will be using the bath mat and where you are installing it make sure you look for the following organizations on the bath mat website or packaging: Prop 65, ADA, NFSI High Traction, and OSHA certified.

Material
A high-quality mat bat will be flexible and made of antimicrobial material. This should be stated directly on the box. Antimicrobial material ensures that the mat stays free and clean of mold and mildew, which is a common concern in the bathroom.
