McHenry, IL, March 5, 2008 – Jessup
Manufacturing Company’s Glo Brite® photoluminescent films
have been certified as complying with the Marine Equipment Directive
(MarEd) of the European Union for use in low location lighting systems
aboard ships.
As North America’s leading manufacturer
of photoluminescent technology, Jessup is one of only two U. S. companies
to have its safety grade products approved for use on board ships
for which safety certificates are issued by or on behalf of the 27
European Union member countries. Jessup’s Glo Brite® photoluminescent
films store ambient light for “glow-in-the-dark” signage,
pathway markings and similar applications.
“This new certification continues the global
expansion of our industry leading photoluminescent products by opening
new markets in western and central Europe,” said Alan M. Carlson,
vice president marketing support and business development for Jessup. “It
is another example of how we provide the total solution for our customers
in a variety of markets.”
The Glo Brite® products were certified to
Section A.1/3.40 of MarEd. MarED is the coordination group
for the Notified Bodies assigned by the European Community Member
States to carry out conformity assessment procedures. The European
Union was formed to remove the barriers to the free circulation of
goods among its members.
